Roxborough Park development
One of the city’s biggest inner-city developments has been cleared to go ahead with plans. City councillors have paved the way for Roxborough Park Inc. to begin the new development that will change the face of the east end of Hamilton.
The development will cover a total of 5.52 hectares near the Red Hill Valley Parkway, located where the old Roxborough School still stands and is believed to be a future success and beneficial for the neighbourhood. “It will serve a mixed range of incomes, and change the face of the east end,” says Sam Merulla, Ward 4 councillor.
It will include 36 street townhouse dwellings, 4 block townhouse dwellings, 122 maisonette dwellings, 120 stacked townhouse dwellings, and 3 apartment buildings. There will be roughly 360-365 apartments in total, 100 of which will be social housing via City Housing Hamilton. These will be replacing existing apartments built nearly 60 years ago.
